Jan’s feature film “Running Against the Wind” was selected by Ethiopia’s Minister of Culture and was Ethiopia’s first official Oscar entry in the category “Best International Feature Film” 2020 and received the prestigious German Peace Prize of Cinema in 2021. While still at school, Jan founded a fundraising association that has collected over 120.000 Euros to date for the funding of two schools in Ethiopia since 2008.
Founder and owner of R&B FILM production. Jan lives and works in Los Angeles. Jan studied film production at the University of Television and Film (HFF) Munich, as well as anthropology and art history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. He was a student at Werner Herzog’s Rogue Film School. Father of seven year old Paul and two year old Luisa.
